The company was first established in 1979, in Waltloo South-Africa as SP Electrical (Pty) Ltd. It initially started out as a small electrical company and has since grown into a vibrant turnkey enterprise with 35 years of experience and professional service delivery to the South-African Motor Industry and a variety of major companies over the years.
SNS Engineering’s first key contract mainly Samcor SA, created a foundation on which the company could build, and successfully establish a name for SNS Engineering and Construction (Pty) Ltd. in the Motor Industry as a competitive and innovative leader in service delivery. In 1987 SNS Engineering achieved vendor status at Nissan Motor Company South-Africa followed by BMW South-Africa in 1994. Forging solid business ties with these major role players within the South-African Motor Industry. SNS Engineering’s survival and growth over its 35 year lifetime in the harsh South-African business environment, is greatly based on the strategic and operational leadership provided by the management team, with Frans de Beer taking the lead as Managing Director, together with dedicated and loyal employees.

Timken R&D invests a significant amount of time growing expertise in friction management, materials science, and mechanical power transmission. The group surveys the fields for new opportunities and new technologies, including emerging trends in digital manufacturing and automation, performance modeling, heat treatment technologies, and advanced lubrication science.
